Expansion liquid is used to achieve a desired amount of setting expansion when mixed with phosphate-bonded investments. Setting expansion can be adjusted by diluting expansion liquid with distilled or demineralized water, without changing the liquid/powder ratio. The higher the concentration of expansion liquid, the greater the expansion of the investment material.
