SECTION II - HAZARDOUS INGREDIENTS

Materials:  

Amorphous silica
Titratable alkali (as Na2O) 0.32%.


SECTION III - PHYSICAL DATA

Solubility in Water: 100 Percent

Specific Gravity:  1.20-1.30

Appearance and Odor:  Clear to opalescent Liquid; Odorless


SECTION IV - FIRE AND EXPLOSION HAZARD DATA

Extinguishing Media:  Not Combustible


SECTION V - HEALTH HAZARD DATA

Threshold Limit Value:  10 mg/M3 Total dust (ACGIH TLV)

Inhalation: May cause temporary lung irritation with cough, discomfort, difficulty in breathing, or shortness of breath. Individuals with preexisting lung diseases may have increased susceptibility to the toxicity of excessive exposures.

Eye Contact: May cause irritation with discomfort, tearing, or blurring of vision.

Skin contact: May cause irritation with discomfort or rash.

 

First Aid Procedures:  

Swallowing: No specific intervention is indicated as the compound is not likely to be hazardous by ingestion. However, if symptoms occur, consult a physician.

Inhalation: In case of contact, immediately flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. Call a physician.

Eye Contact: In case of contact, flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes using an eyewash fountain, if available. Lift upper and lower lids and rinse well under them. GET MEDICAL ATTENTION if irritation occurs.

Skin Contact: The compound is not likely to be hazardous by skin contact, but cleansing the skin after use is advisable.


SECTION VI - REACTIVITY DATA

Stability:  Stable

Incompatibility:  No known hazardous incompatibility.

Hazardous decomposition and hazardous polymerization will not occur.


SECTION VII - SPILL OR LEAK PROCEDURES

Spill Procedure:  Use dustless methods-vacuum and place into closable container for disposal, or flush with water. Do not dry sweep. Wear protective equipment specified below.

Waste Disposal Method:  Dispose in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.


SECTION VIII - SPECIAL PROTECTION INFORMATION

Ventilation:  Use sufficient local exhaust to keep aerosol, mist and dust concentrations below the exposure limits.

Protective Gloves:  Rubber

Eye Protection:  Chemical splash goggles

Respiratory Protection:  Use NIOSH approved respirator under appropriate OSHA standards and regulations.


SECTION IX - SHIPPING REGULATIONS FOR HAZARDOUS MATERIAL

Not D.O.T. regulated.


SECTION X - SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS

Use dustless or wet systems when handling and clean-up so that exposure does not exceed the Threshold Limit Value in Section V above. Practice good housekeeping, maintain ventilation system and post appropriate warning notices where product is used, stored and handled. Do not permit dust to collect on walls, floors, sills, ledges, machinery, or equipment. Maintain, clean and test respirators in accordance with OSHA regulations. Avoid breathing aerosols and mists ( also dust from dried down product).
